In summer and even part of spring and autumn, the 14 x 4.5 metre swimming pool awaits with its slightly salty water and deckchairs for those who prefer to lounge in the sun or the shade. The pool is enclosed and complies with the safety standards, as well as having a shower, WC and barbecue.

All year round, there are more than 50 horses and ponies at the Pont du Gard Equestrian Centre offering excursions and horse-riding lessons for all levels and ages.

Contact Florian Griotto on 06 10 71 29 43.

Depending on the season, there is also the possibility to pick cherries, asparagus and even olives for your enjoyment.

In the surrounding area, there are the pleasures of bracing walks down to the river, just 5 minutes away. The natural beaches along the Gardon are ideal for swimming in the water flowing down from the gorges, and the little currents give bathers excellent water massages.

Fishing is authorised in season, and there are plenty of opportunities for pleasant canoe trips. Rentals are available in the village.

You can also spend hours observing the rich wildlife in the protected nature reserve, with guided visits to catch sight of beavers, eagles or herons.

As you head up over the moorland, breathe in the countless scents of herbs, boxtree, juniper, strawberry tree and oak.

Over hills and through valleys, the ever-changing views take in wild gorges and rolling landscapes of vines, orchards and fields forming a delightful patchwork of yellow and orange, red and green through the seasons.

In the distance, a village, farm or castle makes a reassuring human presence out in the wilds.

The different rocks of the region have been eroded into cliffs that are popular with climbers, caves and even pebbles forming natural reflexology therapies for the soles of your feet. The shells embedded in the stones of the Gard region are also a reminder that the region once lay under the sea.

It is this same yellow stone that was used to build the famous Pont du Gard, the majestic Roman aqueduct that spans the Gardon just 2 km away.

Several long-distance footpaths run through the area offering a whole range of walks. Among them is one heading off through a valley and up to the Hermitage, a 12th-century chapel with its own cave and spring.
